Generation Chart
Al Younbouh’s mission is to help our disabled children and adults achieve their maximum potential.
Mental and developmental disabilities are very common. If we were to look at three generations of any extended family, we will find that in 70% of the families there will be a child or young adult with a disability. This can be inherited (due to a gene or chromosome defect) or environmental (due to infection or trauma). Examples of such disorder include learning disabilities, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, autism, difficult to control epilepsy, and many other syndromes. The drawing shows this reality and gives examples of what affects many of our families.
Fortunately, research is showing that the brain of the disabled child and young adult has the capacity to adapt and gain new functions, thus, these individuals can learn new skills. |
